Comment someone gave on Today's Watchtower re: great tribulation
by cappytan in"we may get instructions that don't make sense or they may defy logic, but we must be obedient to the faithful slave if we want to survive.".
all i could think about was that these were the same kind of people that would have gulped down the kool aid at jonestown without hesitation.. pardon the language, but what the actual f**k?
even when i wasn't a doubter and bought in to the organization, it was always with a view to what was in line with scripture.

How anyone could obey these men as if they are prophets. I was brought up in this religion at the age of 5 and was able to figure this was BS before I turned 19. Just a little critical thinking and they could see through the lies. -

The Fear mongering of this weeks WT study!
by stuckinarut2 inhave you all read this weeks study article?.
oh my word it is full of fear inducing tactics....doom and gloom outlooks.... anxiety inducing methods to develop absolute control over witnesses and cripple them in any attempt to think for themselves!.
(notice i am saying "themselves" rather than "ourselves"?!

21 Years as an Elder, 5 as an MS, I will never be that guy again.
by James Jack ini was deleted as the cobe after i let my adult child move back home and he admitted that he fornicated under my roof while my wife and i where away on a rbc project.
of course the elder mode in me kicked him out of the house.. the elders moved quickly to remove me because i was too involved in "theocractic activities", i had neglected my adult son.. i accepted this primarily because i didn't want to serve with a boe that did not want me.
i was devastated however because it was the only life i knew.

Welcome to the Board
Further more, after the meeting, each Elder an application in their hand and approached those who had not signed up.
Very heavy handed of them and not Christ like.
James,
I hope you take the time to read the various topics and discussions on this board. It can be a daunting task, and cause a panic for those that been witnesses for a long time. This board is full of people who've had the same or similar experiences as yourself. There are those with tact here and many without. I wish you well on your journey.

Wow - Scientology is so similar to Jehovah's Witnesses
by Illuminated ini recently watched this excellent interview with ex members of scientology.
i was blown with how much former members sound like ex jehovah's witnesses.

What do Jehovah's Witnesses as a whole think about Scientology?
Part of Babylon the Great. I don't recall them ever being mentioned in any of their magazines. The Governing Body will not directly attack Islam or Scientology. They won't attack Islam because of fear of violent retaliation. They won't attack Scientology because of Scientology's notorious retaliation. Could you imagine the dirt Scientology would dig up on the JW? Scientology has blacked mail members of the IRS to get their tax status and other illegal activities. No, the Watchtower inc. will stick to the meat and potato attack of Catholicism and other religions that don't care what the Watchtower says or prints.

I think it is quite comical whenever I read insidetheKH comments. He speaks as if he is of high rank and knows the ins and outs of the organization at the upper echelon.
within JW ranks there is not a real movement of people who think there is any reason to distrust the organisation. things are going fine as far as the majority is concerned.
Or perhaps they are like you and disregards God's mouth piece, The Faithful and Discreet Slave, AKA GB, commandments and visit, register, and comment on a known Apostate site. Many members on this site are still active JW or at least attend meetings to avoid losing family.
konceptual congregations that need a new hall will get a new hall
You being a window washer has this privileged information?
I know hundreds of active witnesses but never heard one about wanting to know about the international accounts.
Really? I know hundreds of JWs who will not question the society on ANY thing. I do however know of one individual who is a hypocrite and is registered to an apostate site and posts here.... I wonder who that may be
insidetheKh, you remind me of Alejandro Cao de Benos for North Korea.
anyway, have a good day my fellow Apostate in denial

How do Americans feel about Canadians and Britons interjecting their opinions onto hot localized political topics: gun laws, abortion, ect?
by adjusted knowledge inin addition to the above question, why do citizens of the two above mentioned countries, or other countries, feel the necessity to tell americans how they should interpret the american constitution for localized issues?.
i fairly much have an idea what the general population in the usa feels in regards to the first question.
this could be one of the possible reasons cnn piers morgan poor ratings and eventual firing.

Are those counter opinions opposed to your own opinion too damaging or weakening ?
My personal opinion on guns varies, but I have no problem with strict gun laws. Mostly I agree with the opinions given by those who are opposed to guns, with the exception of a total ban on guns. I bought 9 guns and sold them when I had a baby. I don't hunt nor shoot recreational. Personal protection was the only other reason for me, and I rather not take the chance my child would be killed by them.
Again wasn't looking for a gun debate, there are other political topics such as American health care. It just doesn't seem in my experience that most Americans care anything about Canada's or European politics, but my foreign friends have plenty to say about American politics. Perhaps Americans are just as a whole are ignorant. Thirty-three percent of Americans would be unable to pass our citizenship test. The test is very basic.
The following does provide what I'm looking for, at least on the issue of gun laws:
The issue of open gun ownership is a universal situation in every country and has cultivated its own concern around the world.
it's because I fear the spread of Americas mentality to our shores.

How did you get through mind numbing meetings?
by minimus inas an elder, i used to find a legitimate reason to wander.

I would sleep through the meetings, but I'm a snorer. I would get nudge quite often by my mother. When I got older the meetings weren't dull to me. I actually believed it was The Truth. I took it seriously until 1995.
Attending a meeting now would be so easy. Take your tablet and hide in the back playing games. Being a witness is so easy now.

I fairly much have an idea what the general population in the USA feels in regards to the first question. This could be one of the possible reasons CNN Piers Morgan poor ratings and eventual firing. He insisted in interjecting his personal politics about gun ownership. I feel many Americans are put off by a Briton telling them how to interpret the Second Amendment.
For the second question, I can understand for those who vacation here or have family here. Our laws, gun culture and such would impact the later. I definitely can understand a strong opinion on Wars or other matters that impact the global community. But I, as an American, have had discussions with both Britons and Canadians, and though it is a generalization, they seem to be of the feeling of moral superiority on at least the topic of gun laws. But what I have found is some of the ignorance that people have of American gun laws including on this form.
Not trying to start a debate, though an increase in activity on this site is welcomed, but I generally am curious of people's opinion. I'm not asking for any particular political viewpoint but only how the Americans on this board feel in regards to question one and then for those that fit into the second question.

The hypocrisy Jesus had towards the pharisees and sadducees
by adjusted knowledge init is no wonder the jewish leaders had ridiculous rules concerning the sabbath.
the following scripture alone should instill fear of those forsaking the sabbath.. (numbers 15:32-36)--"now while the sons of israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering wood on the sabbath day.
33and those who found him gathering wood brought him to moses and aaron, and to all the congregation; 34and they put him in custody because it had not been declared what should be done to him.

Reading the NT it does seem to be two differing religious opinions: one by Jesus and one by Paul. -

and needed the wood to warm himself and his house, then he would have been right to go get the wood.
Why else would a person gather wood? I'm sure he wasn't doing it because it was fun. If Jesus and his disciples waited one day they wouldn't of died of starvation. Maybe its just a case of nepotism, and God looked the other way when his son broke the Sabbath.
